Geode Hives - 2024

The Granite Geode Hives are observation hives showing how bees make and store honey, but more so an observation on the fixation with the rare and exotic while overlooking the beauty of the ubiquitous. In this piece, the granite was treated and processed as you would a precious geode. Split in half and polished on the edges to a point of mirror reflection. This piece highlights the extraordinary in the ordinary.

The bees are expected to complete the piece with comb and honey in spring 2025.
